AnnotationCoronal mass ejections are transient expulsions of solar plasma from the gravitational field of the Sun as seen in white light coronagraph observations. Their interplanetary manifestations are called interplanetary coronal mass ejections. This review deals with ICMEs from a theoretical point of view.
