Nebeská Afrodita jako bohyně asexuální lásky je jedním z příkladů “interpretatio Christiana”, reinterpretace antické mytologie, literatury, obrazů a soch, které umožnilo jejich začlenění do křesťanské evropské kultury. V antickém řeckém a římském kultu a výtvarném umění měla Nebeská a Obecná Afrodita stejný sociální a morální statut, byly to dva aspekty jedné a téže bohyně, přesněji řečeno Obecná Afrodita byla aspektem Nebeské Afrodity.

Heavenly Aphrodite as the goddess of asexual love is one of the examples of medieval “interpretatio Christiana”, a reinterpretation of ancient, mythology, literature, paintings, and sculptures that enabled their integration into Christian European culture. In the ancient Greek and Roman cult and fine art, Heavenly Aphrodite and Common Aphrodite had the same social and moral status, they were two aspects of the same goddess, more precisely nthe Common Aphrodite was considered to be a facet of the Hevenly one.
