Kniha je zaměřena na dekorační kameny těžené v České republice. Popisuje lomy, ve kterých jsou dekorační
kameny dobývány, uvádí jejich chemické složení i fyzikální vlastnosti, petrografický popis a obsahuje řadu fotografií
dokumentujících jejich vzhled. Uvedeny jsou také zeměpisné souřadnice lomů a kontakty na jejich provozovatele.
Součástí knihy je i stručný popis historie využívání kamene ve stavebnictví, klasifikace a terminologie používané
různými vědními obory, způsobů dobývání i opracování a vývoje rozsahu těžby na území České republiky
v posledních cca 25 letech.

The book is focused on the decorative stones quarried in the Czech Republic. It describes the quarries from which
decorative stones are obtained, lists their chemical compositions, physical properties, petrographic descriptions,
and contains a series of photographs documenting the stone appearance. The geographical coordinates
of the quarries and the contacts of their operators are also listed. One part of the book contains a brief description
of the history of the exploitation of stone in the building industry. This section also contains descriptions of
the classification and terminology used in different scientific disciplines, the methods of quarrying and processing,
and the development of quarrying in the territory of the Czech Republic in the last 25 years.
