The chapter covers the new legislation on Gambling in the Czech republic, which attempted to create modern legal regulation inspired by other European States and overseas jurisdictions. The previous legislation before 2017 was unsystematic and outdated. The text introduces the main pillars of the legislation and focuses on special features, which improved the previous law. It also covers the case-law interpreting some aspects of controversial issues, for example which types of games Municipalities could regulate and whether they had such a power at all, because Ministry of Finance considered itself to have exclusive power on licensing of gambling. Municipalities argued by their constitutional right to self-government in front of Czech courts. Other issue involves freedom of expression, because internet providers on the territory of the Czech Republic are obliged to prevent access to any of the webpages with unauthorized online games. The part on responsible gambling covers obligations of Gambling operators in relation to gambling participants and venues, where gambling is prohibited. The chapter in conclusion evaluates the new law with some statistics as well.
