The chapter is devoted to the analysis of the vision, environment and consequences of the implementation of Industry 4.0 in the Czech Republic. Industry 4.0 is not seen in the Czech Republic as a mere digitization of industrial production. It is a complex system of changes associated with series of human activities in different spheres of society. This system should contribute to solve pressing global challenges and, at the same time, open up space for human creative activities. Future of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is interpreted in the Czech professional and political circles as a certain vision with a strong social context, and also as the most significant innovation challenge today, which causes changes in society-wide reach. There is currently a favourable political and macroeconomic environment in the Czech Republic for the implementation of Industry 4.0. However, at enterprise and society-wide level, the lack of qualified people to work with new technologies and exploit their potential is a significant obstacle to the implementation of interrelated processes robotics, automation and digitization. In this context, the issues related to the risks of delays in education are also discussed. The chapter summarizes not only the opportunities provided by Industry 4.0, but also the critical conditions and relevant barriers to its implementation in the Czech Republic.
