Tento příspěvek se zabývá jednou z moderních kodifikací soukromého práva v arabských zemích, a to Sanhúrího kodexem z roku 1948. Nastiňuje předchozí právní úpravu soukromoprávních vztahů a pozadí přijetí kodexu. Sanhúrí záměrem byla modernizace egyptského práva skrze nový přístup k islámskému právu a výpůjčky z jiných právních řádů.

This article deals with one of the modern civil codes in Arab countries, namely with Sanhuri civil code of 1948. It outlines previous legal regulations in metters of civil law and highlights the background of the passing the code. Sanhuri attempted to achieve modernisation of (egyptian) law through the new approach to Islamic law and borrowing from other legal orders.
