Studie ukazuje způsob, jímž františkán Claude Frassen (1620–1711) řešil věčný problém smíření Božího poznání s jeho kauzalitou a lidskou svobodou. Na jednu stranu Frassenovo skotistické řešení dává za pravdu molinistům nakolik jde o libertariánské pojetí svobody. To mu umožňuje kritizovat tomistický predeterminacionismus coby neslučitelný se svobodou. Na druhou stranu důkladné kritice podrobuje molinistickou nauku o středním poznání.

The study explores the way the Franciscan Claude Frassen (1620–1711) dealt with the perennial problem of reconciliation of the divine foreknowledge as well as causation with human freedom. On one hand, Frassen’s Scotist solution sides with the Molinist as far as the libertarian concept of freedom is concerned. This enables him to criticize Thomist predeterminationism as incompatible with freedom. On the other hand, he thoroughly critiques the Molinist doctrine of middle knowledge.
