Současným celoevropským trendem je přechod od lineární produkční ekonomiky k ekonomice cirkulární. Tradiční lineární model je založen na principu: těžba primárních surovin - výroba - spotřeba - nepotřebný odpad. Snahou cirkulární ekonomiky je tento řetězec zacyklit a nahradit část primárních surovin surovinami sekundárními, jako jsou odpady.

The current pan-European trend is the transition from a linear production economy to a circular economy. The traditional linear model is based on the principle: extraction of primary raw materials - production - consumption - unnecessary waste. The circular economy seeks to loop this chain and replace some of the primary raw materials with secondary raw materials such as waste.
