V deseti kapitolách autoři z Německa, Slovenska a ČR podávají charakteristiku a kritickou analýzu Jonasových hlavních filosofických přínosů, zvláště v oblasti etiky. Hans Jonas přinesl důležité motivy pro etiku odpovědnosti v moderní technologické civilizaci, v ekologické etice a bioetice. Z nových možností techniky a dopadů kolektivního jednání vyplývají nové povinnosti. Ochrana přírody a ohled na budoucí generace se stávají hlavními imperativy nové etiky, aniž by tím byly dotčeny dříve stanovené etické imperativy.

In ten chapters the authors from Germany, Slovakia and CR give a characteristic and a critical analysis of Jonas’ main achievements in philosophy and, specifically in moral philosophy. Hans Jonas has brought important motives for the ethics of responsibility in the modern technological civilization, ecological ethics and bioethics. The new powers of technology and the impacts of collective action imply new duties. Preservation of nature and regard for future generations are becoming the main imperatives of the new ethics without annulling the imperatives of the ethics previously established.
