Epos o Gilgamešovi je považován za nejvýznamnější dílo akkadské literatury a literatury starověkého Předního východu vůbec, jež se plným právem stalo součástí literatury světové. Nový komentovaný překlad tohoto starověkého textu, jehož konečná podoba vznikající v procesu dlouhého více než tisíc let trvajícího vývoje se dochovala v ninivské knihovně asyrského krále Aššurbanipala, odpovídá nejnovějším výsledkům a objevům, k nimž klínopisné bádání aktuálně dospělo.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is regarded as the most important work of Akkadian literature and the literature of the Ancient Near East in general and it became an integral part of the world literature. New annotated translation of this ancient text whose final edition arising in long process of more than one thousand years lasting evolution was found in the Assurbanipal’s library in Ninive corresponds to the latest results and discoveries achieved by the cuneiform research.
