Článek se zaměřuje na Zumrovo zkoumání genealogie českého strukturalismu a jeho vztah k herbartismu. Přibližuje vývoj českého strukturálního myšlení a odhaluje za tímto vývojem stále zřetelnější trend k určité “desubstancializaci” v epistemologické i ontologické rovině. Článek posléze komparuje tento trend s některými aspekty vývoje francouzského strukturálního myšlení.

This article focuses on Zumr’s inquiry into genealogy of Czech structuralism, which reveals deep continuities between the tradition of Czech structuralist thought and Herbartism. The article describes the evolution of Czech structuralist thought and reveals behind this development steadily growing trend to the “desubtantialisation” in epistemological and also ontological field. The paper places this trend within the broader context of both the Czech and the French structuralist tradition.
