This article is dealing with granite and basalt surfaces processing and finishing by pulsating water jet technologies. Research was oriented at the evaluation of possibility to use new type of self-excited pulsating water jet for ornamental stones surface treatment. Characteristics of granite and basalt surfaces created by acting of self-excited pulsating water jet was compared by various methods including bush hammering, flaming, polishing, continuous and pulsating water jetting. Results obtained up to now indicate that the application of pulsating water jets in surface treatment of granite and basalt can reduce disadvantages of traditional techniques because it creates surface with required roughness but preserves its aesthetical appearance.
