    Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Approximately, a third of the world’s population is infected with M. tuberculosis, resulting in a global health problem. Although potentially curative treatments have been available for approximately 50 years, TB remains the leading cause of preventable death in the world.
