Narušením v podobě vychřic a kůrovcové gradace ve druhé polovině 19. století nebyly schopné odolat ani původní porosty. Tyto disturbance a likvidace jejich následků zásádně změnily věkovou strukturu a druhové složení lesů na Šumavě.

Even the old growth forests were not able to withstand the forces of large windstorms followed by bark beetle gradation in the second half of 19th century. These disturbances and their liquidation changed the age and species structure of forests in Bohemian forest.
