In a newly developed Arena Path Integration Task, we testes subjects suffering Alzheimer’s Disease and amnestic mild cognitive impairment in a navigation without vision to a previously seen goals and back to the start. Both groups of patients were impaired relative to healthy controls in returning back to the start position and their impairment was related to the medial temporal and parietal cortex volumes. Our results suggest that even navigation without vision is impaired in these patients, possibly as a function of medial temporal and parietal cortex neurodegeneration.
