Tato studie analyzuje program oslav mawlidu proroka Muhammada v mezopotámském městě Arbíl na počátku 13. století a interpretuje jej v kontextu vývoje tohoto svátku od jeho prvních projevů v písemných pramenech 10. století. Dva právní názory na původ oslav mawlidu z 13. a 15. století nám umožňují definovat arbílský mawlid proroka Muhammada, coby zásadní předěl ve vývoji tohoto islámského svátku.

This article analyses the programme of celebrations of the prophet Muhammad´s mawlid in North Mesopotamian town of Arbil in the beginning of the 13th century. The mawlid is interpreted in the context of the development of this feast since its first displays in the written sources in the 10th century. Two legal opinions on the origin of the mawlid from the 13th and 15th centuries enable us to consider the mawlid of Arbil to be the developmental turning point in the history of this Islamic festival.
