Im XIV. Jahrhundert in byzantinischen Ekphraseis erschienen Stadtgestalten, die ein neues Stadtgefühl trägt. Die Spüren dieses neuen Stadtgefühls kann man in der italienischen Wandmalerei, in der Architektur der deutschen Städten, in der Novgoroder Wanderungen (Khozhdeniia) bemerken. Später offenbaren die altrussischen Ikonen auch Stimmungen, die mit dem Ruinengefühl der Byzantiner und ihrem rhetorischen Landschaftsgenuss vergleichbar waren.

In Byzantine Ekphraseis of XIVth century there are some images of cities reflected a new city feeling. Traces of this new city feeling can be noticed in Italian wall painting, in architecture of German cities, in Novgorod describe of travels (Khozhdeniia). In the later time the Novgorod icons also find out moods which can be compared to feeling of ruins of Byzantines, as a part of their rhetorical pleasure by a landscape.
