Kapitola pojednává o významu chemie v každodenním životě a o změnách ve výrobě a využívání chemických produktů po vyčerpání zásob uhlíkatých fosilních surovin – ropy, zemního plynu a uhlí. Text připomíná přírodní suroviny, které byly ještě v 19. století zpracovávány na celou řadu užitečných chemikálií. Paradigma udržitelný rozvoj a důležitost obnovitelné chemie jsou také diskutovány.

The charter mentions importace chemistry for every day life and presents discussion about changes in production and application of chemical products after depletion of fosil carbon raw materials –crude oil, natural gas and coal. The text remind raw sources of natural origin which were processed till the end of the 19th Century to great range of useful chemicals. Pradigma of sustainable development and importace of renewable chemistry are discussed as well.
