Autor knihy ke svým dosavadním životopisům významných mužů připojil podobiznu velkého demokrata, filozofa a státníka, spojujícího v dokonalou jednotu teorii a praxi. Učinil tak nejen ve svém úvodním reliéfu, ale též ve věrném podání Masarykových autobiografických, filozofických a politických úvah, jež s ohledem na politické a kulturní souvislosti zasadil do dobře připraveného rámce svých kapitol. Prezident Masaryk revidoval text rukopisu, čímž vznikla kniha, na níž se podíleli dva autoři – Emil Ludwig a T. G. Masaryk. 10. české vydání je doplněno rozsáhlou ediční poznámkou, dodatky, vysvětlivkami a komentovaným rejstříkem.

To his already existing biographies of notable men the author added a portrait of a great democrat, philosopher and statesman, who bonded in perfect unity theory and practice. He did so not only in the extensive introduction, but also in an authentic description of Masaryk’s autobiographic, philosophical and political reflections, which he set in a well prepared scope of chapters, regarding the political and cultural context. Due to the fact that president Masaryk reviewed the text of the manuscript, a book originated with the participation of two authors - Emil Ludwig and T. G. Masaryk. The 10th Czech edition is supplemented by an extensive editor’s note, footnotes, a glossary and a commented index.
