The lipofuscin-like pigments (LFP),end-products of lipid peroxidation, in the rat heart decreases on day 4 relative to day 1, subsequent transient increase on day 7 is followed by decrease to day 60. The male ventricles contain higher concentration of LFP in comparioson with female ventricles on day 30, however, on day 60 the concentrations do not differ. On day 30 the production of LFP prevails at males and females in right ventricles, however, on day 60 the situation persists in female hearts only, whereas in male hearts the concentration of LFP prevails in left ventricle and septum
