The Sloupsko-Šošůvské and the Kůlna Caves in the Moravian Karst (Czech Republic) represent an example of the fluviokarst cave system. The cave passages underwent several Quaternary periods of fluvial aggradation and erosion. The Early Pleistocene fluvial and lacustrine deposits recording reverse polarity of detrital remanence magnetization (e. g. they are older than the Brunhes/Matuyama paleomagnetic boundary) are preserved at the Černá Abyss. Two accumulations from the Middle Pleistocene are preserved in the caves. The older was deposited 320,000 years ago and the younger is slightly older than the last Interglacial based on the U-series dating. The sediment gravity flows and the slope processes dominated in the caves during the last Glacial.
