Surface relief within persistent slip markings (PSMs) was studied using confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) in cast nickel base superalloy Inconel 738LC cyclically strained in strain control at room temperature. FEG-SEM technique was successfully applied to acquire qualitative data in initial stages of surface relief evolution.
