Článek přináší stručný nástin historie didaktiky matematiky jako vědy v zahraničí a naznačuje, jak se tento vývoj odráží v české didaktice matematiky (zejména ve výzkumu realizovaném v rámci doktorského studia soustředěného kolem PedF UK v Praze). Připomíná hlavní myšlenky výzkumu realizovaného v Kabinetu pro didaktiku matematiky Matematického ústavu AV ČR. Na příkladu konkrétní oborové rady doktorského studia jsou shrnuty předpoklady úspěšné existence didaktiky matematiky jako samostatné disciplíny.

The article contains the brief survey of the history of didactics of mathematics education as a science abroad and points out how it has influenced the Czech mathematics education research. An emphasis is placed on research carried out within a PhD study at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague. Recalls the main ideas of research conducted in the Department of didactics of mathematics of the Institute of Mathematics, Academy of Sciences. On the example of a concrete PhD Board some prerequisites of a successful existence of didactics of mathematics.
