První publikace v českém jazyce, která je zaměřena na základní teoretické otázky tradiční hudby českého a obecně evropského prostředí. Publikace na základě srovnání hudebního materiálu a teoretických konceptů charakterizuje obecné znaky a chování tradičních hudebních kultur, ukazuje na rozdílnosti v jejich chápání v prostředí různých badatelských škol.

It is the first publication written in Czech that focuses on the basic theoretical questions of traditional music in the Czech and also European environments. This monograph, comparing the actual music and theoretical concepts, describes the general features and manners of traditional musical cultures, and points out differences which occur in their perception, depending on scholarly approaches and schools.
