Záměrem publikace je vysvětlit historii vývoje města Skutče a obcí v jeho okolí. Výklad sahá od počátků kontinuálního osídlení až po současnost. Kniha pokrývá historické období více než tisíce let a autoři začleňují dějiny města do širšího kontextu regionálního i zemského vývoje.

The goal of this publication is to explain the history development of Skuteč and the municipalities that are part of its environs, specifically those currently created by its local districts. The commentary starts with the beginnings of continual settlement, further unfolding until our recent times. The book therefore covers a historic period of more than a thousand years, while the authors attempted to include the history of the city within the wider context of regional development, specificaly the history of the Czech state.
