Cílem stati je identifikovat vývoj vzdělanostní fluidity v České republice v letech 1990 až 2009 a nabídnout jeho vysvětlení. Vývoj vzdělanostní fluidity je analyzován jak z hlediska roků, tak z hlediska narozených kohort, které v jednotlivých letech utvářejí vzdělanostní strukturu. Zjištění ukazují, že od roku 1990 do roku 2005 jsme svědky poklesu vzdělanostních šancí podle vzdělanostního původu respondentů a teprve v období 2006 až 2009 pozorujeme oslabování tohoto trendu.

The aim of the article is to identify the trend in educational fluidity in the Czech Republic between 1990 and 2009 and offer an explanation for it. The authors analyse trends in educational fluidity from a period and birth cohort perspective. The findings show that educational fluidity did not increase in Czech society between 1990 and 2003. From 2004 to 2009 this trend changed and a slight increase in educational fluidity became evident.
