The exposure of the rabbit cornea to UVB rays (0.25 J/cm2 and 0.5 J/cm2) were compared with equivalent doses of UVB rays impinging to the human cornea from sunlight. Results show that already single irradiation of the dose 0.25 J/cm2 equivalent to 2.5 h exposure of solar UVB rays to the human cornea is dangerous to the eye.
