A detailed micropaleontological analysis (spores, pollen grains, dinocysts, foraminifers, calcareous nannofossils) of black shale filling fissures in the Štramberk Limestone has been carried out. The evaluation of these microfossils proved stratigraphical interval from the Valanginian to the Albian and reflected a sequence of brackish to neritic sedimentation. An occasional influence from Boreal province in the depositional area of the NW part of Tethys, during the Early Valanginian and Hauterivian was observed (as supported by the presence of high-latitude nannofossils and dinocysts).
