Současná archeologie se často zabývá otázkami zániku sídlištních objektů, resp. jejich proměny v archeologický pramen. Využívá k tomu jak vlastní terénní pozorování a analytické postupy, tak metody přírodovědných oborů. Výsledky spolupráce přinášejí nové poznatky o funkci objektů, jejich druhotném využití, konstrukčních detailech a v neposlední míře i o spolehlivosti archeologického kontextu jakožto nálezového celku.

The Prague-Korčak culture settlement (6th-7th centuries AD) at Roztoky represents an unresolved archaeological mystery. Particularly difficult to interpret is the extraordinarily large number of settlement features, pit-houses for the most part. The enigmatic nature of the situation is also compounded by the peculiar location of the site on an area of around 20 ha wedged into the narrow base of a deep valley on the left bank of the Vltava River. The article attempts to contribute to the interpretation of this site using various multidisciplinary methods offered by contemporary archaeology, namely soil micromorphology and charcoal analysis.
