Podle názoru autorů článku byl malíř Karel Škréta nejen umělec, ale mohl by být označen jako pictor doctus. V textu je to doloženo zejména na příkladech Škrétova portrétu od Tiberia Tinelliho, na Škrétově použití Ikonologie Cesare Ripy a na kompozici cyklu obrazů zachycujících život sv. Václava v klášteře bosých augustiniánů na Zderaze v Praze. K článku je připojen seznam knih z knihovny Škrétova syna, který obsahuje i knihy, které vlastnil malíř sám.

In a view of authors of an article painter Karel Škréta was not only an artist, but could be designated as a "learned painter" - pictor doctus. In the text this is manifested especially on examples of Škréta´s portrait painted by Tiberio Tinelli, on Škréta´s use of Ripa´s Iconology and on compositions from the cycle depicting the life of St. Wenceslas from the cloister of Barefoot Augustinians on Zderaz in Prague. Enclosed to the article there is a list of the books from the library of Škréta´s son, which included also books owned by a painter himself.
