Infrared camera, PIV, smoke-wire, tuft filaments and oil-flow visualzization techniques were used for wind-tunnel and in-flight investigation of boundary layer separation - both stall and separation bubbles - related to transition mechanism at low Reynolds numbers. Wortmann FX66 series airfoils and FX66 series wing fuselage junction were subject to this study. Effect of passive flow control devices - vortex generators - on behaviour of the boundary layer was invesigated. Application of flow control resulted in reduction of drag coefficient. Finally measurements of intensity of turbulence in thermal flows in lower atmosphere were conducted.
