The isolation and identification of three new steroidal saponins from Lilium candidum L. is described. Bulbs of Lilium candidum L. were extracted with ethanol and the crude extract was fractionated using chromatographic methods. The structures of the compounds were elucidated based on spectroscopic analysis, including two-dimensional NMR. The compounds appeared to be 25R and 25S isomers of 3-beta-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1->2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy]spirost-5-en-27-ol and the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl ester of the 25R isomer.
