Studie dokumentuje publikační možnosti a limity v polovině 19. století, specielně v letech 1850-1851. Konkrétně rozebírá úřední strategie tiskového dohledu vůči divadelní hře Josefa Jiřího Kolára Žižkova smrt – provozované za velké pozornosti veřejnosti – a překladu Historie Girondinů od Alphonse de Lamartine, který s ohledem na předpokládanou čtenářskou veřejnost byl povolen na rozdíl od uvedené divadelní hry.

The study documents the publication possibilities and limits in the mid-19th century, specifically, in the years 1850–1851, with regard to the reader target groups. It deals with the translation of the Girondist History by Alphonse de Lamartine into Czech with respect to the strategy chosen in the permission of its publication by the authorities, whose competency involved than also the printing supervision. This procedure is then compared to a well-known case of a contemporary administrative reflexion of a theatre play with a historical topic – Žižka’s Death by Josef Jiří Kolár, which was aimed at a wider public.
