První svazek edice korespondence básníka, esejisty, překladatele a diplomata Josefa Palivce (1886-1975) zahrnuje listy intimní a rodinné - vzájemnou korespondenci s manželkou Helenou (sestrou bratří Čapků), nevlastní dcerou Denise Stravinskou (snachou Igora Stravinského) a překladatelkou Zdeňkou Pavlouskovou. Do jejich dialogů se promítají detaily ze života a tvorby bratří Čapků, kulturní a politické souvislosti období První republiky a 60.-70. let 20. století. Publikace zpřístupňuje celkem 311 dopisů, dále obsahuje doslov, rozsáhlé vysvětlivky a ediční poznámky, doplňky ke 2. svazku Spisů a jmenný rejstřík.

The 1st volume of the correspondence of Czech poet, essayist, translator and diplomat Josef Palivec (1886-1975) include intimate and familial letters with his wife Helena (a sister of Karel and Josef Čapek), his stepdaughter Denise Stravinsky (daughter-in-law of Igor Stravinsky) and translator Zdeňka Pavlousková. There are projected details from the life and oeuvre of Brothers Čapek as well as the literary, cultural and political context of the First Czechoslovak Republic and the 1960s/1970s in their dialogues. The publication contains in total 311 letters, an epilogue, extensive explanatory and editional notes, complements to the 2nd volume of the Works by Josef Palivec and an author index.
