Text se zabývá problematikou identity Romů v České republice. V první části je soustředěn na obecnou definici identity a trendy konceptualizace identity ve vědeckém diskursu. Následně se soustředí na identitu Romů, kde osvětluje, proč se Romové v České republice často neidentifikují s většími organizačními jednotkami, než je rozšířená rodina, jak působí stigmatizace a negativní stereotypizace Romů v České republice na utváření romské identity, dotýká se tématu jazyka a identity u Romů a problematiky národního vědomí.

The text deals with Roma identity in the Czech Republic. In its first part it is focused on general definition of identity and trends in conceptualization of identity in the academician´s discourse. In the following sections it turns to Roma identity. It explains why Roma often do not identify themselves with larger organization unites than extended family, it suggests what effect has the stigmatization and negative stereotypization of Roma on the Roma identity building, it touches the theme of language and identity and national consciousness.
