The TOTEM experiment is dedicated to the measurement of the total proton-proton cross-sections with a luminosity-independent method and to study of elastic and difractive scattering at the LHC. The proton detectors in the Roman Pot stations placed in the distances of 147 and 220 m from interaction points are silicon devices designated by TOTEM with specific objective of reducing down to a few tens of microns the insensitive area at the edge.
