Capillaries in rat brain and skeletal muscles were measured either by automated methods or by interactive procedure by counting intersections of the capillaries with 3D virtual grid of planes or spheres or by manual tracing of the capillaries. The precision of the methods is comparable. The automated methods cannot be used on images with poor contrast
