Publikace Miloslav Kabeláč. Tvůrčí profil skladatele je dosud první monografií o tomto významném hudebním skladateli 20. století. Jejím těžištěm je kapitola „Styl a kompoziční technika“, v níž jsou na konkrétních případech systematicky analyzovány všechny Kabeláčovy skladebné postupy a také na pravou míru uvedeny různé omyly, které se o jeho tvorbě v muzikologické literatuře tradují. Ve dvou rozsáhlých kapitolách je pozornost věnována jeho korespondenci, vlastním odborným textům a četným interview. Stranou nezůstává ani Kabeláčova nová notace a její modifikace. Text doplňují – především v případě dosud nepublikovaných děl nepostradatelné – notové ukázky, dále četné obrazové přílohy. Závěr publikace tvoří chronologicky uspořádaný kompletní seznam Kabeláčových skladeb, včetně jejich přehledu podle druhu a obsazení.

Miloslav Kabeláč: The Creative Profile of the Composer written by Zdeněk Nouza is the first monography on this important 20th-century composer. Its centre point is the chapter “Style and Compositional Technique”, which contains a systematic analysis of Kabeláč’s compositional patterns shown on specific examples. It also corrects various mistaken notions of the composer’s work that have been spread wrongly in musicological literature. Two extensive chapters deal with his correspondence, musicological writings and numerous interviews. Attention is also paid to the composer's innovative notation and its modification. The text is accompanied by music examples, some of them published for the first time, and numerous visual appendices. The work is concluded by a complete chronological list of Kabeláč’s works including an index of these arranged according to their type and instrument setting.
