Data on fish assemblages from 336 streams and 1858 sites evenly distributed throughout the Czech Republic were evaluated. All streams and sites were fished by electrofising. The first pass represented 58.2 and 58.7% of the fish abundance as estimated from two and three passes respectively; abundance calculated from two passes was 97.9% of the abundance calculated from three passes. During the first pass, 89.6% of species estimated from two passes were caught, and 75.7% from three passes. The number of species caught in two passes was 91% of the species caught in three passes. The medians of abundance and biomass (ind./100 m2, kg/100 m2, along longitudinal stream gradient ranged between 14–45 ind. and 0.7–1.7 kg in Bohemian streams, and between 26–35 ind. and 1.1–3.2 kg in Moravian streams, respectively.
