Politické strany byly v první Československé republice základními strukturálními složkami tvořícími legislativní a exekutivní orgány státu. V zákonodárství přesto neexistovala definice politické strany ani vymezení její kompetence. Během existence první republiky se nepodařilo tuto anomálii vyřešit. Strany plnily svoji roli jako reálně existující subjekty. Přestože tato situace přinášela jisté zákonné problémy, neprojevilo se to na fungování demokratického politického systému.

Political parties was in the first Czehoslovak Republic basic structural components participated on the formation of the legislative and executive state bodies. In the country'laws, however, there was no provision defining the political party and its competences. This anomalous contradiction was not solved during the whole existence of the first republic. Parties solved their role only as a real existing subject. Although the situation brought some legal problems, it did not effect the functionality of the democratic political system.
