Quiescent solar prominences consist of a large number of moving small-scale plasma structures. These are regularly observed in UV by space-based spectrographs. This is the first statistical comparison of the Lyman spectra observed by SOHO/SUMER with synthetic spectra obtained by 2D multi-thread prominence fine-structure models.
