Cílem článku je kriticky prověřit rozšířenou domněnku, podle níž byl Descartes v jistých aspektech svého myšlení ovlivněn Suárezovými "Metafyzickými disputacemi". Jako vodítko slouží přístup obou filosofů k problematice ontologického pozadí representativních aktů konečné mysli.

The aim of the article is to critically assess the widespread surmise according to which Descartes was in certain aspects of his thought influenced by Suárez's "Metaphysical Disputations". This question is addressed with regard to the problem of ontological background of the representational acts of a finite mind.
