Péče o městské řeholní řády v hlavních královských městech patřilo tradičně k obrazu dobrých panovníků z rodu posledních Přemyslovců, zpočátku v tom pokračovali společně i Jan s Eliškou, zejména v Praze, brzy se však jejich role fundátorů rozešly.

Towns, religious orders and Royal court was traditionally connected, John of Luxembourg with his wife Elisabeth Premyslid also supported old Premyslid foundations on the beginning of his governement, but after 1319 only the queen has continued in this tradition.
