Current trends to reduce raw materials application lead to the idea of using solid residuals from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) plants in the construction industry in a similar way as solid residuals from coal-fired power plants. The given MSWI plant technology minimizes some environmental risks and negative properties of fly ashes (heavy metals leachability, fly ashes solubility); mixture of acid extracted fly ashes with bottom ash is therefore used for production of material applicable as bed construction layer for carriageways, mounds or backfills.
