Kapitola shrnuje vývoj území Moravy v tzv. protohistorické éře. Přehledně popisuje základní charakteristiky doby laténské (4.-1. st. př. n. l.), doby římské (1.-4. st. n. l.) a doby stěhování národů (4.-6. st. n. l.). Kromě syntetizujícího popisu politického vývoje, sociálních struktur a hmotné kultury jednotlivých etap je z každé éry zevrubněji charakterizována jedna lokalita či nálezový celek s mimořádnou výpovědní a památkovou hodnotou (keltské pohřebiště Brno-Maloměřice, germánský knížecí hrob u Mušova, hrob velmože ze stěhování národů z Blučiny – „Cezavy“).

The chapter summarizes development of Moravian region during so-called Protohistoric era. Digestedly describes the basic characteristics of the La Téne Period (4-1 cent. BC), the Roman Period (1-4 cent. AD) and the Migration Period (4-6 cent. AD). Besides the outline of political processes, social structures and material culture of particular periods in each of them there is detailed description of archaeological site, which has an outstanding contribution for recognition of the period (Celtic burial ground in Brno-Maloměřice, rich prince grave from Mušov, chieftain grave form Blučina-“Cezavy”)
