Studie se zabývá atentátem na zastupujícího říšského protektora Reinharda Heydricha, jeho významem a důsledky: druhým stanným právem, zničením dvou českých obcí, Lidic a Ležáků, a popravami českých vlastenců. Tyto události měly velký ohlas v mezinárodním veřejném mínění a podpořily požadavek potrestání nacistických válečných zločinů. Součástí studie je také edice významných dokumentů vztahujících se k této problematice, zvláště dvou deklarací československé exilové vlády.

The study deals with the assassination of Acting Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich, its significance and consequences: the second martial law, destruction of two Czech villages, Lidice and Ležáky, and executions of Czech patriots. These events have a strong impact of the international public opinion and contributed to demand for punishing the Nazi war crimes. Part of the study is also the edition of important documents related to that matter, particularly two declarations of the Czechoslovak government in exile.
