Kniha zkoumá povahu epizodických situací jako svébytných elementů lidského prožívání světa. V souvislosti s epizodickými situacemi jsou zkoumány vsazenost přítomnosti situací do minulosti a budoucnosti a způsob spolupřítomnosti minulého a budoucího v situaci, povaha různých rovin Já, které se na situaci účastní, a jejich vzájemné vztahy, povaha hodnotových postojů těchto různých rovin Já a korelativně povaha funkcí, jichž mohou nabývat v rámci situace věci, a vzájemné vztahy těchto funkcí, povaha různých typů uspořádání, které vytvářejí věcné celky, a možnost aplikace struktury situace i na vyšší celky zkušenosti.

The authors study the nature of episodic situations as selfstanding elements of the human experiencing of the world. It is being studied how present episodes of life are situated into past and future; how the past and the future is present in the situations; what is the nature of different levels of the Self which participate in the situation; what are the relations of these levels; what are their value functions; what are the correlated functions of things in the situations; and the possibilities to apply the structures of the episodic situations on the higher wholes of human experience.
