    The adsorption geometry of the DNA nucleoside thymidine on Au(111) and Cu(110) surfaces has been determined from experimental results of soft X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy.
