Public houses were considered the "second home", alternative to the traditional one, and they were poetically called so. They served mainly regular guests who enjoyed various privileges. Their relation to the pub was confirmed by nicknames they gave it, and especially their loyalty to the pub lasting for long years. Collectivities welded together in pubs were compared to families.
