The influence of stoichiometry on the electrical and optical properties of lead iodide crystals is reported. The stoichiometric samples and those with the excess of iodine or lead were prepared. Prepared materials were characterized by measurement of electrical resistivity and low-temperature PL spectra. High resistivity materials were attained and the best results of resistivity were obtained for stoichiometric material. The PL spectra of samples are fairly similar and no systematic dependence was found.
